HELPING LOUISVILLE 1 CLIENT AT A TIME

Robin Ensor is the owner and provider of Body Harmony Therapeutics, which is a fascial – based treatment company started in 2022. Robin treats one person at a time with hands – on John F. Barnes Myofascial Release technique and self-care Melt Method instruction. The focus and passion of Body Harmony Therapeutics is optimal body movement and function by treating the muscle and fascia system. The musculoskeletal system is an intricate system that needs to work in harmony to allow us to move through life with ease. Many know about the skeletal, muscle, and nervous systems and how they contribute to body movement, but the fascia system is given little attention. The fascia is a continuous 3D webbing system of connective tissue that covers every muscle, organ, and cell in our body. It helps provide hydration, gliding, and support to our bodies. When there is an injury, repetitive poor posture, or trauma the fascia system can create restrictions and bind our ability to move optimally.

Robin has 21 years of experience in outpatient physical therapy with orthopedic injuries, vestibular rehabilitation, cancer survivorship, and female pelvic floor issues.

My Story

When I was 12 years old I decided I wanted to be a physical therapist. I knew this because I had to regularly attend my brother, Michael’s, physical therapy (PT) sessions. My mother took that time to run errands and probably just take a break, which she much deserved. Michael has cerebral palsy and at the time he needed regular PT to help him recover from many surgeries. I enjoyed learning from his physical therapist and she even helped me to learn how to do things for him at home. When I got into physical therapy school, I assumed I would want to work in pediatrics, but much to my surprise I loved outpatient orthopedics. I worked with KORT (Kentucky Orthopedic Rehab Team) for 21 years and developed with the support of leadership and my colleagues a wide range of specialty niches within the outpatient PT profession. I found myself constantly searching for the newest and best advances in the profession. I didn’t feel fulfilled until I went to a Herman and Wallace class in 2018 for pelvic floor issues that focused on the lumbar plexus and performing fascia techniques. I loved it! I used these techniques and started to notice an improvement in pain and function in my patients beyond my expectations.

In 2022, I attended my first John F. Barnes myofascial release class and remember thinking he was speaking my language! I started to use the new techniques in my PT setting, but unfortunately there just wasn’t enough time to commit to listening and treating as I saw fit. My wonderful husband, Bo, and I talked about my passion to dedicate treating one person at a time. We prayed about it for quite a while and decided it was time to pursue my dream. In August 2022, I started Body Harmony Therapeutics, which is a massage therapy company focused on myofascial release. It has been the best decision I could have made and I am forever grateful to have the ability to continue my dream. Myofascial release (MFR) is very effective in treating restrictions in the body to allow for more optimal movement and function. I find to get the best results from MFR it is important for the individual to improve body awareness and take ownership in treating the fascia at home. This allows us to make bigger gains in our progress and helps with retraining the tissue memory.

In September 2023, my friend, Laura Watkins, told me about the Melt Method. When she said it was a self-care approach to treating the fascia system I was all in. I have finished 1 year of Melt Method training and am now a level 4 instructor and have found it to be invaluable. It has allowed me to truly say I have a company that fully addresses the fascia system from assessment to treatment to instruction and education to home-based programs. I am forever grateful to John F. Barnes and his team of instructors and Sue Hitzmann and her team of instructors for sharing their knowledge. I can’t wait to see how the next 20 years go as I and the fascia community/researchers/bodyworkers learn more and more about this intricate and beautiful system that we now know is truly a system, not just a connective tissue. I look forward to working with those who want to take ownership of their overall health and well-being.

Robin Ensor

I have been seeing Robin for several months and my pain, inflammation, and general discomfort have all greatly improved. Robin is warm, friendly, professional, and an effective massage and physical therapist. Robin seems to intuitively know what areas of my body are tight and tense. Her space is relaxing, safe, and very comfortable. I am convinced that myofascial tissue release is the missing piece of most health and wellness. I am happy that Robin understands this and is a master in the art and science of myofascial tissue release. I have also improved my body awareness and been inspired to address self-care in other areas of my life since I began working with her… because everything is connected, right? I couldn’t recommend her more highly.
